Wherrytown beach is the large stretch of pebbles between Penzance and Newlyn. The beach is backed by Newlyn Green and the Newlyn Art Gallery to one end and a playpark, bowling green and basketball court to the other. A wide promenade also runs along the length of the beach.

There is always plenty of activity going on behind the beach, year round. And as one of the few completely dog friendly beaches in the area it is popular with pooches.
If you do want to bring the dog check the tides; at high tide you will find just a steep pebble bank, whilst low tide reveals an expanse of firm, flat sand.

Although there is no lifeguard here swimming is about as safe as it gets in the sea and the water quality is good these days.
