Like the neighbouring Promenade beach, Battery Rocks beach only exists on lower tides. Sitting between the historic South Pier and art deco Jubilee Pool this little stretch of sand and shingle is often overlooked. In fact it is empty more often than not.

The only reason a lot of people know about it at all is that it was under threat from the Penzance Harbour regeneration plan a few years back.

As the name suggests the beach is just around the corner from Battery Rocks which are rock pool paradise. This is also a great spot for snorkelling when the tide is in.

Having lived in Penzance I realised I’d never been on this beach until yesterday. Was out with the kids snorkelling off Battery Rocks and decided to head in this way for a change.

Spent a few minutes sitting on the beach in the sun. It’s actually a really nice spot with great views out over the bay on a calm day.

Glad this didn’t get destroyed by the harbour developments they were talking about a few years back…
