  • Porthmeor is arguably St Ives' premier beach and as such one of Cornwall's finest. The beach consists of a long stretch of golden sand overlooked by numerous artists' studios and the Tate Gallery. Porthmeor is also St Ives' most dramatic beach facing the full force of the Atlantic Ocean and flanked by rugged headlands.

As a consistent winner of the Blue Flag award Porthmeor is a great family beach and has all the facilities you would expect. These include a top notch beachside café, a surf school and a seasonal lifeguard service.

    Parking

Parking is always difficult in St Ives. It is usually possible to find a place in the large car park above the town but it is probably better to park in St Erth or Lelant and take the train into St Ives.
