Pentire Steps is separated from its better known neighbor Bedruthan Steps by Diggory's Island, a towering lump of rock with a small arch and a permanent covering of grass atop. However, at low tide the two beaches do join up to form a long stretch of golden sand.
Somewhat off the beaten track Pentire Steps is a little tricky to find and only just accessible via a scramble down the cliffs. This pretty much guarantees it stays quiet throughout the year.
Also worth noting is that the beach here disappears when the tide is in.
If you do make it down to this beautiful beach swimming is not advised. There are often strong rip currents along this stretch of coast even when it appears calm.
