Hemmick Beach

This pretty little sandy beach is situated just to the west of Dodman Point on the Roseland Peninsula.
The beach is set at the bottom of a steep, narrow lane, with the nearest parking (National Trust) being about a quarter of a mile away. This 10 minute walk across the fields is enough to put many visitors off, so the beach remains generally quiet even during the summer months. In fact the majority of beachgoers are often people staying at the nearby Boswinger Youth Hostel.
Unsurprisingly there are no facilities at Hemmick so you'll want to bring your own food and drinks.
Swimming here is considered generally safe, although care should be taken as there are no lifeguards on duty.

Nov 17th 2021what is lovely about this place, is that it isn’t a bathing spot, it isnt a surfing paradise…..thats why it’s tranquil and lovely. Go elsewhere if you want the above…..this is for those who just want a bit nature.
Pretty sandy beach, ideal for a quiet swim

Jan 30th 2022But swim mid to high tide for best conditions. Super little beach BUT you do have a 15 mins walk down a steep hill then back up again as there is no parking. This adds to the charm for me! No facilities at all.

May 18th 2021This has been a favourite beach of mine for over 50 years. I cannot fault it. Lovely walk down and never crowded. Dog friendly as well. Water shallow and beach regularly cleaned by National Trust.
Dangerous and unpleasant

Apr 07th 2021Really strong currents here, not safe for swimming at all. Lots of very sharp rusted metal just under the sand, possibly an old car wreck? Not good for kids. Because of its position it gets shady on this beach very early so not ideal for sunbathing either.
Don’t go here!!

Feb 25th 2021Very rocky water and stony sand, no parking except for up a long, steep hill. There are other places to go, waste of a hot day
