Summerleaze Beach
- info
- weather & tides
Located within easy walking distance of Bude town centre Summerleaze is a popular beach. However, the extensive sands in every direction mean at anything except high tide it is unlikely to feel crowded.
The waves can be quite powerful here which, whilst great news for the surfers, isn't ideal for young children. But this is where Summerleaze really comes into its own as it is home to the Bude Tidal Pool - a sizeable outdoor swimming pool which provides a sheltered place for all, year round.
Summerleaze is also an unusually interesting beach with a large breakwater complete with tower protecting a small harbour and the mouth of the Bude canal with its massive lock gates. Backing onto the beach are grassy downs and the River Neet.
