Porthmellon Beach

If you want to stay near Hugh Town, Porthmellon is a good bet. Porthmellon (or Porth Mellon) is just a short walk from the town centre. Its beautifully clear waters make Porthmellon a good spot for swimming. Relax on those Scilly-white sands, looking out to Samson and Tresco, and come here at low tide for some excellent rockpooling.

It's also a popular place for watersports, including windsurfing and kayaking. Porthmellon is home to the Sailing Centre, whose HQ sits among the old gig sheds that line the beach. There's also a welcoming cafe, The Beach: perfect for warming up when you come ashore.
