The Lizard and Falmouth - Praa Sands to Falmouth
Cornwall Beaches > The Lizard and Falmouth
The Lizard Peninsula is somewhat of a geological anomaly. Formed from the Earth’s mantle some 375 million years ago the coastline here is a diverse mix of the sublime and the odd. The western coast forms part of Mount’s Bay and takes the full force of the elements and is where most of the good beaches are. The eastern coast is much more sheltered but is home to a few picture postcard coves.
The remoteness of the Lizard means that many of beaches and coves here rarely become busy. Many are not that easy to find and not too easy to access once there.
