Cornwall Blue Flag Beaches

Cornwall Beaches > blue flag beaches

The Blue Flag Award is an independent recognition of environmental excellence run by the non-profit Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). Worldwide there are over 2,000 Blue Flag beaches in 36 countries

The Blue Flag awards works towards sustainable development at beaches/marinas through strict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, and safety and other services.

However, it is important to point out that the Blue Flag award's criteria is not only concerned with water quality. It takes the beaches facilities into account such as whether there is disabled access, lifeguards on duty and toilets. Therefore in our opinion the guide doesn't really mean a great deal and to smoe extent is merely a golden handshake to local business.
If you browse this beach guide you will find over 100 equally clean, unspoiled beaches throughout Cornwall
